The Challenge

With the diversity and complexity of client legal matters, the firm was faced with a unique e-discovery challenge. It had to address the avalanche of data – as documents in various formats – that it received for each client-matter and be able to perform deep and thorough e-discovery on them to best serve their clients’ interests.. There was no pre-packaged, off-the-shelf solution that could tackle these challenges.​

Our Solution

RDA defined an Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven architecture to implement a scalable, modular document processing pipeline framework. We leveraged multiple tools within the AWS platform – including AI services Amazon Comprehend, Amazon Textract, and Amazon Transcribe - coupled with a processing framework to manage the data and results, including AWS Lambda, EventBridge, CloudTrail, and DynamoDB. The solution enabled the ingest of digital client-matter data, performed deep text extractions, and natural language processing on the ingested data.​

The solution provides for significant cost reduction while providing a service-differentiating e-discovery boost with the AI framework, one that has the ability to readily extend and address document types yet-unknown.
