Business Intelligence Helps Departmental and Organizational Program Initiatives
Our client is an association that represents U.S. investor-owned electric companies. Their members operate across the United States and also includes more than 60 international electric companies that operate in more than 90 countries. They provide public policy leadership, strategic business intelligence, and essential conferences and forums.
The client’s finance department wanted to implement business intelligence (BI) capabilities to facilitate data analytics across their enterprise for departmental and organizational program initiatives. This initiative enforces better decision making skills in the finance department, regarding allocating funds to various programmatic needs, and improving insight to various operational metrics. Additionally, by leveraging a BI approach, our client would be able to provide their management team and end-user community with the ability to interact directly with key data and metrics versus relying on inefficient paper and Excel based reporting.
RDA proposed a BI engagement that would create deliverables including a set of reports and dashboards leveraging their enterprise data - revenue, membership, budget, event attendance, etc. The solution pulled the company’s data from multiple systems using Microsoft’s Power BI platform, creating a set of visually interactive dashboard and report analytics.
This project has successfully launched and employees are now able to generate reports and unlock key insights into business data. The client’s employees are thrilled to have a user-friendly dashboard providing visual representation that helps to support their overall departmental goals. Our client gained visibility across the enterprise around programmatic initiatives, illustrated the power of BI to the end-user community, and ultimately created a scalable vision for the client’s business intelligence platform.
