RDA Corporation recently proved that its business application development solutions benefit not only large corporations, but nonprofit organizations as well.
RDA Senior Consultant David Makogon was one of the developers who donated their time to charity at the first Southern Maryland GiveCamp. The event was held at St. Mary's College of Maryland in St. Mary's County, MD on March 19-21, 2010.
GiveCamp is a weekend-long event held in various regions across the United States. IT professionals – including software developers, designers and database administrators – give their time to develop custom software for nonprofit organizations. These solutions can range from a new website, to applications that can help improve or automate a nonprofit's processes. However, the participants must be able to complete their projects during the GiveCamp weekend.
At the Southern Maryland GiveCamp, over 100 IT professionals developed solutions for 18 nonprofits using four core technologies: Telerik Sitefinity CMS, DotNetNuke, Microsoft SharePoint Server, and ASP.NET.
Leveraging his expertise in business application development, David Makogon and his team utilized Sitefinity to create a new website for the Autism Spectrum Support Group of Southern Maryland. The website is completely maintainable without the need to make edits in HTML.
David describes his weekend at GiveCamp as "probably one of the, if not the, most rewarding experience(s) in my professional career. I'll definitely be doing this again next year. This was a phenomenal event, and a great success."
