RDA developed and implemented a flexible, collaborative intranet site to help this research company's global teams better communicate and share information. The resulting site creates a central location where team members from around the world (primarily Germany, Japan, and throughout the U.S.) can view project-related documents and receive information on the status of their project as well as keep track of the goals for their particular sub-team. |
RDA's client is a leader in the research and clinical development of healthcare products.
Our client sought to implement a flexible, collaborative intranet site with internationalization to help their global teams better communicate and share information.
RDA assisted our client with the implementation of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 to help their global teams better communicate and collaborate.
The initial phase of the MOSS project focused on the design and implementation of a team site, using out-of-the-box MOSS 2007 functionality. This included assigning tasks and viewing task status, group calendars, document libraries containing presentations and competitive intelligence briefs and other non-compliant documents that do not need to be housed in Documentum.
Future phases will include leveraging the site template to facilitate collaboration across multiple disparate business units and allow for the appropriate level of information security between user groups in accordance with our client's internal policies. Best practices and procedures for backup, restore and recovery processes also will be designed and implemented during this project. The company intends to expand the use of MOSS 2007 in the future by using it as a platform for a variety of business applications that will benefit from the robust application development platform and collaboration tools provided by the product.
This site creates a central location where team members from around the world (primarily Germany, Japan, and throughout the U.S.) can view project related documents and receive information on the status of their project as well as keep track of the goals for their particular sub-team. Other benefits will come as they decide how SharePoint can best be used for team communication and collaboration.
