Securing the Farm with SSL

Server to Server communication within a SharePoint Farm can be extensive. In some instances, servers may not be inside of a physically secure data center, making an encrypted communication channel to protect data between servers important.
Securing the communication helps to mitigate reputational risks to the business and ensures that sensitive data is not compromised. It can also help to protect servers from malicious attacks and, depending in the type of business and data, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
This article may apply to anyone whose servers are not inside a physically secure data center, where the network eavesdropping threat is considered insignificant, and an encrypted communication channel to protect data sent between servers is required.
