RDA’s Calphalon Site Wins AMY Award

The folks at Calphalon had a pleasant surprise this month when the Atlanta chapter of the American Marketing Association chose them as the winner of an AMY award in the category of “Web & Interactive Marketing – Web campaign/microsite”.  RDA is proud to have been a partner in implementing the Calphalon Kitchen Electrics Microsite, for which Calphalon won the AMY award.  Working with Calphalon was a pleasure, as their commitment to quality and consistency in promoting their brand is unparalleled.
The Calphalon Kitchen Electrics microsite showcases products from Calphalon’s Kitchen Electrics product line, including toasters, coffee makers, waffle makers, deep fryers and more.  Utilizing multiple channels, including a Facebook contest and ads on, an integrated marketing campaign drove users to the microsite, where they were able to watch product videos as well as read about and purchase products.

Calphalon made use of RDA’s technology expertise to build the site in a way that accomplished the following goals:

  • Editable by business users
    • Non-technical Business users can edit any of the text, link to new videos and more using a WYSIWYG interface, built by RDA for Calphalon.
  • Fast, high quality streaming videos
    • RDA assisted Calphalon with technology to reliably display these videos across a number of clients, including Apple and Android devices.  This included video encoding, storage and display techniques.
  • Beautiful, Fast Navigation of Content
    • The site was built on Calphalon’s banner rotator technology, built by RDA.  This technology allows for fast navigation to additional page content without reloading the page, as well as beautiful fading and scrolling transitions between that content, all editable by business users.
  • Usability
    • RDA assisted in identifying and resolving usability issues with the initial design of the site, ensuring that users, once they visit the site, have no problems navigating and discovering Calphalon’s Excellent products.
